Total annihilation actually happily fits on a cd (although while thats not true of gog+3.9, trimming multiplayer or singleplayer makes it fit) and will happily load in it's entirity from the cd. M.2 pcie3.0 4x nvme would be super nice to load TA from. for most things there is little difference. Has anyone toyed with RAM drives and using a virtual TA directory within RAM? I can imagine it would load 25X faster than an SSD.Ĭore2quad 4ghz vs most i3 is neglible difference, i had a pentium g3420 3.1ghz and swapped it out for an i7 4770 3.9ghz turbo. But the SSD technology isn't always as good as advertised, as it can be buggy with time. You can get significant improvement in load time using a fresh SSD. The C2D had 4 gigs of RAM versus 16 gigs on the i5, but anything above 3 gigs is pointless on TA.
I saw a huge difference between a 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo versus a 2.7GHz i5.
