That's how windows 10 ended up being such a ****-up and i have a right to be incensed about a shit product. Whether you're working for free or not is irrelevant, same people will take those atrocious coding skills over to other PAID projects where they are EMPLOYED. My 7 year old bulldozer still sees 8x25% or 4x50% instead of maxing out 2 cores.Īs for the hostility? No, it's not my fault people don't do their research, so the hostility is *not* unjustified.

You literally have to FABRICATE benchmark results to even SEE activity vary across multiple cores. You literally cannot disable it - so why people are pushing this idea of "Single core performance" is beyond me. The Engine itself provides the thread-ordering. Even those old 'compatability mode' calls and functions are only add-ons for the base Engine. It's because compatability mode uses older functions and d3d resources. DX10/11 are made backwards compatible as far as DX7/Win98 iirc that's why you have Compatability Mode for it. Gamma, if it wasn't compatible it wouldn't run. gotta get rid of the dollar signs though and then we can truely flourish (and get some 16k total annihilation with a million units.) moores law ended a while ago but things will still get better. this is drip feeding minor upgrades through a globally orchestrated system of technological scarcity. This isn't technology advancing though, don't let them fool you. It wont be long before the i3 gains hyper threadding and the i5 is 8 cores. We aren't there yet, i5 recently became 6core and i3 became quadcore, with the high end pentiums picking up dualcore + hyperthreadding. Total annihilation actually happily fits on a cd (although while thats not true of gog+3.9, trimming multiplayer or singleplayer makes it fit) and will happily load in it's entirity from the cd. M.2 pcie3.0 4x nvme would be super nice to load TA from. for most things there is little difference. Has anyone toyed with RAM drives and using a virtual TA directory within RAM? I can imagine it would load 25X faster than an SSD.Ĭore2quad 4ghz vs most i3 is neglible difference, i had a pentium g3420 3.1ghz and swapped it out for an i7 4770 3.9ghz turbo. But the SSD technology isn't always as good as advertised, as it can be buggy with time. You can get significant improvement in load time using a fresh SSD. The C2D had 4 gigs of RAM versus 16 gigs on the i5, but anything above 3 gigs is pointless on TA.

I saw a huge difference between a 2.1GHz Core 2 Duo versus a 2.7GHz i5.
